What are the objectives of the project?
More space = more help to more children
A larger and more suitable center will allow us to expand our activities and support more families in need.
Creating financial independence
A nursery will be dedicated to parents of disabled children, to enable them to work and provide for their families.
Physiotherapy and psychological consultations
Consultation rooms will be set up to offer physiotherapy and psychological sessions in our center.
Hosting health professionals and volunteers
We will welcome health professionals and volunteers to join us in caring for the children.
Our observations and proposed solutions
Limited available space
The children and families we support have different challenges and needs. Over the past two years, our observations on the field have led us to reflect on many issues. Ideas for new projects were born with the aim of offering a complete support to our children. Today, our center is a small house that we rent. In view of the projects we wish to develop, the space we have is, at this time, limited. Indeed, due to its size and layout, our current center does not allow us to expand our activities.
Specific needs
Undernutrition impacts the development of a child, in terms of cognitive and motor skills, but also with regard to the child's immune system and development. Therefore, we have observed that many children require treatment by specialists, such as physiotherapists or speech therapists. In order to provide this support, a rehabilitation room will be set up with the necessary equipment. Graines d'Espoir will hire a part-time physiotherapist so that our children can develop and/or maintain their motor skills. Furthermore, in a context of precarity, where the acceptance of the disabilities or state of malnutrition of their own children is difficult, psychological support has proved to be essential for these families. For this reason, we will hire a psychologist who will work part-time in our center.
Financial autonomy for families
As our actions often fall within the scope of vital emergencies, the children's recovery is our number one priority. In addition, our experience has taught us that allowing families to become financially independent is essential to their long-term wellbeing. However, this is not always possible given their situation and the make-up of the household (single women with young children, aging people with dependent children, children with disabilities requiring constant support, etc.) Therefore, our center will include a nursery, dedicated to parents of young and disabled children, in order to allow them to work and provide for their families. Educators, caregivers and/or early childhood professionals will be hired by Graines d’Espoir to care for these children.
More human capacity needed
In order to carry out our projects, we will be expanding our local team. We will hire an additional nurse, a psychologist, a physiotherapist, two qualified early childhood educators for the nursery project, and a housekeeper in charge of the kitchen and the maintenance of the center.

What is the required budget?
Purchase of the land
We have visited several available plots of land. The price of a “lot” (600 m²) is 5 million CFA francs on average (€7,590). We estimate that two lots (1,200 m²) are necessary for the construction of the Graines d’Espoir care center, which represents a total of around €15,000.
Construction and furnishing of the center
Several local architects have been contacted in order to compare offers. The estimated price of the construction (including all materials and labor work) is on average 90,000,000 CFA francs, i.e. €145,000. The total budget will be confirmed following negotiations and the potential support of volunteer construction workers. It should be noted that every donation received above the required budget for the construction will be used to finance the equipment and operating costs of the center.

Once the center is built, we will equip all rooms in order to carry out our activities and allow a smooth operation. We would like to obtain a maximum of necessary equipment in the form of material donations obtained in Togo and/or in Europe.
Our center will include :
- a general consultation room,
- a pharmacy,
- a room dedicated to physiotherapy consultations,
- a room dedicated to psychological consultations,
- two offices,
- a storage room,
- a room dedicated to tutoring and Braille classes,
- a living space for the children admitted in our nursery programs,
- bedrooms dedicated to employees and volunteers,
- toilets and bathrooms,
- a kitchen,
- a garden.

May 15th, 2022
Yesterday, we held our first charity dinner in support of our construction project. We are thrilled to announce that we have raised a total of €22,370, thanks to the generous donations of our guests! We would like to thank everyone who has attended the event, especially Markus Baulig and Andreas Baulig (from Baulig Consulting) who donated €10,000 to the project! A special thank you to Jonas Eisert (Founder of Loftfilm) and Michael Kern (Managing Director of KERN GmbH Spindel Full-Service) for organizing this great event!
Having reached the €15,000 mark, we are now able to secure the land on which we will build our care center.
