Her story
Yayra has been deaf and unable to speak since birth. She is HIV positive and is on antiretroviral treatment. Yayra is now living with her grandmother and other family members, and thanks to her family’s support, she is able to attend a specialized school for the hearing impaired. For some time, their financial resources were limited, and they were not able to cover the costs of the school meals. During that time, Graines d’Espoir supported Yayra by financing the school meals so that she could study in the best possible conditions.

We went to Yayra’s home and gave her 6,000 CFA francs, which will be used to pay for the school meals this month. She is doing really well. We explained to her grandmother that now that the family is able to cover the costs of her school, we will be stopping our donations after this month. Of course, they will always be welcome at the center when they need our support.
