Start of care
Afi lives with her mom and several siblings. Her mom is a street vendor but is currently not working to take care of Afi. Her dad is a mechanic, but he doesn’t have a fixed job, and he lives away from home. When we met Afi, at 6 weeks old, we were alarmed by her weight, which was the same as when she was born (2.3 kg). In fact, her mom has little breast milk, and Afi has difficulty breastfeeding. She gets out of breath very quickly. We are now supporting her through the donation of artificial milk and medical care in our center.

Afi continues her beautiful weight evolution with a gain of 330 g in one week! She now weighs 3.43 kg at 12 weeks. We contacted a pediatric surgeon regarding her umbilical hernia. He confirmed that it will be possible to operate on it when she turns one year old.

Afi continues to gain weight (almost 200 g in one week) and she now weighs 2.88 kg at 10 weeks. Thanks to the guidance from our midwife, breastfeeding has started again very well. However, Afi is still in a state of severe malnutrition.

Afi weighs 2.71 kg at 2 months old. She has gained almost 220 g in one week and is doing very well! We are very happy with her weight gain.

Afi is doing very well! Her mom now gives her formula twice a day in addition to breastfeeding, which is now more effective. She recently had to partially resume her small business to support her children. Afi has gained about 120 g in a week and now weighs 2.49 kg. Her weight gain is reassuring, although she is still severely undernourished.
